Tech Theater students get to work...
stencil by Tyler Jones
Level I - Exploring Stencils
For the last two weeks we have been exploring stenciling in the Level One class. Stenciling is an often used technique in theater. It is employed to simulate wallpaper, decorate furniture and create textures. The class started with single layer stencils and some have since moved on to creating multi-layer stencils which are much more complicated, involving intricate cutting and precise registration. The level one students have risen to the task and as you can see in the slide show, have produced some outstanding work.
Levels II,III,IV - At work on our fall production
Our advanced class, for the last 4 weeks has set about building our set for the fall production of "You Can't Take it With You", an uproarious screwball comedy from the 1930s. Advanced students have been involved in all aspects of the production including Sets, Props, Lights, Sound, and Scenic Art. This production features a realistic 1930s interior and has posed some new challenges for our budding carpenters and artisans. I expect to be posting some more photos soon and hope to see you all at one of our shows. The production will run on November 3rd,4th, and 5th. Friday and Saturday shows will be at 7:30pm. Sunday matinee at 3pm.
Moving Pictures...
Below is a video slideshow featuring the work of both the beginning and advanced classes. I'm sure you'll agree that they are doing a great job!
